Exploring my Curiosities

Hi. Back again, with another story. But this one is not a reflection of my thoughts on Amal, this time, it’s me. Exploring my curiosities. Giving a try to something I wanted to but couldn’t get time for.

Being a mechanical engineer and having a passion for design engineering, surface modeling is something that has always excited me. But with fellowship and studies, couldn't get time for it.

In this final week, when I graduated from this fellowship, this constant learning journey encouraged me to do something. I used to do designing on SolidWorks and have done plenty of projects related to the design of robotic arm, formula car chassis, simulation, but couldn't explore the field of product designing.

To enter the field of product designing, expert hands-on experience is a must in the Surface Modelling module of SolidWorks. Thats when I started exploring free courses on the internet. That's where I came across a link to free Udemy courses and I got a link to the free SolidWorks course.

The outline of this course was based on 2D sketching, 3D modeling, assembly, and surface modeling. Since I already had good command in the other modules, I jumped on to surface modeling and started with the first video.

The screenshot above shows the part modeled through surfacing. I learned new commands like surface extrude, surface knit, surface loft, etc. Right after this blog, I’m going to download the resources given with this video and start practicing it.

But I would still say, if I had not been enrolled in Amal, I would have never thought of learning new things. The fellowship has shaped my mind to force myself to explore new skills and learn them.
